Sharing the master plan
McGilp Recreation Park sits at the heart of One Tree Hill. It is a place that brings people together – whether it’s playing sport, attending events or as somewhere to socialise with friends and neighbours.
An upgrade of McGilp Recreation Park has been part of Council’s planning for more than ten years. In 2010, we asked the One Tree Hill community what they wanted to see improved in their town, as part of the Urban Design Framework project. Through this process, the interests of residents and land and business owners were captured. It was clear that the community wanted to see long-term improvements at McGilp so it would continue to cater for different sports, activities and age groups.
Working with the community
Since then, Council has worked with local sports clubs to understand their specific needs and has listened to broader community concerns in relation to stormwater management and car parking at McGilp. This community input has been vital to understanding what needs to feature in an upgrade, and informed the development of the McGilp Recreation Park Master Plan.
Sharing the master plan
The McGilp Recreation Park Master Plan was developed in response to community input, and addresses key areas such as infrastructure improvements, playing surfaces, new changerooms and safety upgrades such as improved lighting along pathways.
This community input has been vital to understanding what needs to feature in an upgrade. We are sharing the master plan to keep the community informed of the project’s progress.
There are some specific parts of the plan, such as the design of new changerooms, that require more planning, and Council is working with relevant sporting clubs to provide them with an opportunity to inform these specific aspects of the design.
You can view the master plan in the 'Document Library' section to the right of this project page.
A plan to deliver
The State Government has contributed $1.5 million grant funding in support of the upgrade. This has allowed Council to progress the project through its 2022/23 Annual Business Plan, with Council allocating a further $1.5 million.
