Willison-Goodman Reserve Upgrade

Project Overview

Council has received funding from the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and has decided to upgrade four parks.

Willison-Goodman Reserve located between Willison Road and Goodman Road in Elizabeth South is one of these parks.

A draft concept has been prepared and the community are now invited to provide feedback on the design.

Willison-Goodman Reserve is a local reserve that also functions as a pedestrian link to shops and bus stops on Philip Highway.  It has a playspace and many mature trees which provide shade and habitat.  However, it has no other facilities.

The concept includes the following features:

  • Improved playspace which includes keeping some existing equipment and adding new features
  • Nature play
  • Paved pedestrian pathway through the reserve with public lighting
  • Irrigated grass
  • Shelter, picnic table, seating, bin
  • New reserve signage

The concept design aims to:

  • Enhance recreation opportunities
  • Improve accessibiliy and appearance
  • Keep to the available budget
  • Protect trees and their root systems
  • Provide appropriate 'fall zone' distances between play equipment
  • Align with Council's Open Space Guidelines which identifies the facilities that are suitable for different types of parks
