Draft Stormwater Management Plans
Overview
Community engagement on the three plans took place in April - May 2022.
We will now collate and analyse feedback before presenting to Council in the coming months for endorsement. After this, endorsed plans will be shared with the Stormwater Management Authority and Green Adelaide for their review and final approval.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views!
Like other councils around Australia, the City of Playford uses Stormwater Management Plans to holistically manage stormwater across the city.
Council has developed three draft SMPs for three of the five catchments that impact the city, including:
- Adams Creek and Helps Road Drain
- Greater Edinburgh Parks and St Kilda
- Smith Creek
The SMPs focus on resolving large scale flooding issues in an integrated way and minimise the adverse impacts flooding events can have on homes and businesses.
Each SMP has its own objectives and strategies that inform land use planning, minimise flooding impacts, protect and enhance ecosystems, minimise costs and take advantage of opportunities for reuse, recreation and amenity.
While we have been working with the community and other stakeholders during the development of the plans, it is now time to find out what the general community thinks of them before they are finalised and endorsed by Council.

Evaluate feedback and refine plans (May - July)Over this time we will be collating, analysing and considering your valuable feedback to refine each plan.

Council endorsement (June-July 2022)We will be presenting refined plans to Council for endorsement. At this stage we will also share what feedback you provided as a collective and how this may have influenced final drafts.

Review by Stormwater Management Authority and Green Adelaide (time to be determined)
The Stormwater Management Authority (SMA) and Green Adelaide will then review the plans.

Publish final plans (time to be determined)
Once approved by Stormwater Management Authority and Green Adelaide, we will publish the final plans on Council’s website and provide an update on Council’s social media page, website a and to those who wish to stay updated on the project.
