City of Playford Rating Policy Review – Public Consultation

Consultation Closed

The City of Playford has an economic strategy to drive growth in the commercial sector to encourage jobs. An integral part of this strategy is to attract new business and assist the growth of our existing business sector through a reduction in the percentage of rate income that is paid by the business (commercial) sector.

One of the key objectives of rating is to ensure the ‘ability and capacity to pay’ taxation principle is applied – in summary this means to take into consideration the equitable distribution of rates across segments of the community. Therefore Council has reviewed the current rating model as part of this economic strategy. From that we have arrived at three options and Council would like your input to assist us in determining which option is the best for the community as a whole.

Learn about the options: View the following documents that explain the options.

1. Rating Policy Review Consultation Paper (this document provides full detail of the options)

2. Rates Review Summary (this document provides a summary only and the full detail should be referenced when considering the information in the summary)
